Maldives Resort Offers Acrobatics To Help Guests Meet Wellness Goals

Amilla Maldives Resort and Residences is proving wellness doesn’t have to be boring, with the launch of imaginative new holistic summer wellness programmes. From acrobatics to Maldivian cooking workshops; staying in shape, eating well and finding balance between body and mind will be anything but dull this summer at Amilla Maldives.

The Baa Atoll resort’s new wellness programmes kick off on June 15th. The cleverest part is they’re designed to fit around their guests’ holidays. This way, they won’t interrupt sunbathing, snorkelling with manta rays at Hanifaru Bay, family time or romantic moments. These unique programmes are crafted for optimal results – but also optimal fun!

There is a total of five different packages – Movement, Mindfulness, Acrobatics (June 15th-August 15th only), Active De-Stress and Detox. It’s perhaps the Acrobatics programme that is the most unique of all. Under the careful guidance of Amilla’s in-house acrobatics performers, they teach guests some of their tricks and techniques that they usually wow the crowds with the resort’s special events, such as its renowned New Year’s Eve galas.

The programme includes conditioning training, aerial hoop sessions, aerial silks lessons and even fire dancing. They are complimented by holistic additions such as post-workout matcha smoothies, sauna/steam room sessions to soothe muscles, relaxing yoga classes and intuitive massage treatments. And the activities in the other programmes are anything but run-of-the-mill, too. For example, the Movement programme features personal training at Amilla’s magnificent Jungle Gymnasium – an outdoor gym in the heart of the island’s jungle, featuring ‘island-style’ workout equipment such as coconut lateral press. It also includes night snorkelling; a thrilling twilight experience whereby guests can watch by torchlight as the reef comes alive at night. And let’s not forget tennis coaching with Amilla’s resident pro tennis player.

These are just a few of the activities in the Movement programme, but since Amilla looks at wellness holistically, the Movement programme also includes post-workout smoothies made with immunity-boosting fresh ingredients, traditional medicine-inspired ‘Dhivehi Beys’ massage, a Maldivian drumming session and a Maldivian cookery class, to name but a few. The aim is to improve health and happiness alike.

The other programmes are equally as colourful. Highlights of the Mindfulness programme include Sensora light and sound therapy sessions, sunset cruises, soap-making using island-grown ingredients, Pranayama and Pranic healing, homegrown tea turndown service and even an indigenous plant island tour, amongst other activities.

The Detox programme ranges from lymphatic drainage massage and kombucha workshops to DIY organic deodorant-making (inspired by the resourceful staff during the island’s lockdown period). And the Active De-Stress programme promises to help guests find their bliss through mind, body and soul-balancing activities such as sunrise fishing, Sensora Colour Baths, Kung Fu and sunset painting.

All programmes include a nutritional consultation, special meal plan which makes the most of Amilla’s abundance of delicious ‘Wellness Your Way’ (dietary lifestyle) menus, as well as indulgent baths drawn for the guests in their private villas on their first and last nights. Results can be achieved in seven days, although the Maldives resort can also devise programmes for shorter stays.
